The New Rolex Cellini Collection

Rolex has recently launched a new line of Cellini timepieces. Look at them all in their majestic glory.

The days go by in an infinite cycle: yesterday, today, tomorrow. Each day that passes is different, each day is essential. The Cellini Date model adds another function to the indication of hours, minutes and seconds: a date display imbued with elegance, tradition and poetry.
Hours, minutes and seconds form the essence of everyday timekeeping. The Cellini Time captures the present as if nothing else were of importance; nothing but the magic of the moment.
Its simple, clear dial pays tribute to the timeless codes of classic watchmaking, while reinterpreting them with an elegant modernity. Faceted and shaped like a two-edged sword, the hands count off each second, each minute and each hour wth the full precision of the self-winding chronometer movementi
at the heart of this prestigious timepiece.
There the sun is rising, while here the day is drawing to a close. While on the horizon the sun is setting into the night, on the Cellini Dual Time it gradually appears in the aperture at the bottom of the dial.

The Cellini Dual Time model grants its wearers the gift of temporal ubiquity. With a quick glance at the dial, they are simultaneously aware of the time here and the time elsewhere. To differentiate daytime hours from night-time hours, a sun or moon symbol transits the aperture at 9 o’clock on the sub-dial. The hour hand can be set independently by successive “jumps” to adjust to a new local time zone, without disturbing the functioning of the watch or the chronometric precision of its self-winding movement.

Vacheron Constantin Shows Us The Beauty Of Skeleton Movements

Another SIHH watch this one is from Vacheron Constantin
Before I go on I must admit I am very fond of skeleton movements.
But this one is truly eye catching.

                 Vacheron Constantin MÉTIERS D'ART

This skeleton movement features Roman Numerals in a very extravagant fashion.
It comes with an external ring which can be either Black,Grey, or Blue; Which are made of Grand Feu opaque enameled
The Movement has been detailed by hand it is a caliber 4400 SQ and is only 2.8 mm thick and
consist of 127 parts with 21 jewels.
It produces 28,800 Vibrations per hour and has a power reserve of about 65 hours.
The casing is only 7.5 mm thick and has a diameter of 40 mm and is made of 18k white gold
It comes with an alligator Mississippiensis strap with an 18k white gold buckle.
The watch is water resistant up to about 30 meters.
If viewing the front of the movement wasn't enough for you no worries, it has a see-through sapphire crystal.
The detail that went to this timepiece is exceptional.
It was hand engraved with such detail its hard to imagine how much time and how delicate it must have been.
All 3 colors of this model are spectacular and very flashy.
This timepiece tells hours and minutes and you can see every part in the movement bring those actions to live.
Vacheron Constantin truly did great work with this skeleton movement and have made into a piece of art that you can wear and admire on your wrist.

Thinnest Mechanical Watch by Piaget

Piaguet have revealed the thinnest mechanical movement today at the SIHH 2014

How thin you ask? 3.65 mm thin!
How thin is that? Well grab 2 Quarters and stack them you have about 3.65 mm.
That is outrageously thin.

The Altiplano 38 mm  900P now holds the title of thinnest mechanical watch taking it away from Jaeger-LeCoultre that made a watch 4.05 mm thin

The Altiplano 38 mm 900P features 145 parts
What makes this timepiece really interesting is that the case and movement are one, the movement can't be removed from the casing the case-back itself is the baseplate.
The Watch will cost you about 30k USD
18k white gold case and a black alligator strap
The Watch has a power reserve of 48 hours

I do love the visibility of the movement in this timepeice
the fact that it's also only 38 mm is outstanding for its thinnest and in my opinion its a perfect wrist size.
The white gold casing goes perfectly with the dial as well as the black alligator strap.
